In the last installment of our International Women’s Day series, we continue on the theme of #EmbracingEquity with Kaitlin Klarer!

Kaitlin Klarer is the charismatic host of Watch Girls Watch Porn, the hilarious and sexy talk show where Kaitlin and her guests review porn. When she’s not busting your gut from laughter on WGWP, Kaitlin is a sexual wellness educator and sex coach with an MA in Psych Counseling. She uses her platform to destigmatize important conversations around sexuality. Today, we talked to Kaitlin about the importance of sex education and womanhood.

What inspired you to become a sex coach and educator? What’s your favorite part of that job?

My family struggled with discussing challenging topics, such as emotions and my mother's illness, which hindered my own healing process. However, through therapy, I came to realize the importance of transparency and expressing my feelings. This led me to delve into taboo topics that are often avoided, such as sex.  As a sex and relationship coach, I am thrilled to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental environment for clients grappling with sexual concerns that they might feel uncomfortable sharing elsewhere. There's nothing more gratifying than helping someone embrace their sexuality with confidence and ease.

Do you think there is still room for improvement in the industry when it comes to embracing equity for women? How would you like to see it improve for women?

Overall, it's fascinating to see how the adult industry is evolving. Women seem to be thriving in the industry, with more female creators making better money than their male counterparts. In fact, some of the highest earners in the industry are women who are producing and uploading their own content. Of course, there are still challenges when it comes to the stigma associated with this line of work, but this is an issue that affects both male and female creators. Despite these challenges, it's exciting to see the industry changing and providing more opportunities for everyone involved.

As a sex educator, what are important tips all women should know when it comes to their sexuality?

1. Masturbate first to explore your body and discover what feels good for you. This is especially important for individuals who identify as transgender, as they may face partners who are unfamiliar with their bodies and how to pleasure them. By understanding your own body and what you enjoy, you can communicate your needs more effectively and have more satisfying sexual experiences.

2. Communication is key when it comes to sexual pleasure. Whether you're with a long-term partner or a new one, it's important to talk openly and honestly about what you like and don't like. Don't be afraid to speak up and ask for what you want, and be receptive to your partner's needs as well. This can help create a more fulfilling and satisfying sexual connection.

In your opinion, how has the discourse on women working in pornography changed over the years, and where do you think it’s going?

The conversation around women's involvement in the pornography industry has shifted over the years and is heading in an exciting new direction. As society becomes more accepting of adult content, there is a growing recognition that women should be empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and sexuality. These changes are promising and lead toward a more open and empowered approach to sexuality and expression.

What advice do you have for women in their 20s who are just starting their lives and careers whether in the industry or not?

For young women interested in entering the industry, there are a few key things to keep in mind. Firstly, seeking therapy can be crucial for handling the difficulties that come with the job. Secondly, avoid turning to substances to cope with nerves or discomfort, as it can lead down a dangerous path. Thirdly, be mindful about saving money and investing in something that can provide long-term stability.

What is something you learned that really stood out to you when working on WGWP?

The impact of the show WGWP on individuals with "alternative sexual desires" has been profound and unexpected. Our goal was to create a safe space for open dialogue about sexuality, and the positive impact it has had on people who have been marginalized or shamed for their desires has been heartwarming.

Keep up with Kaitlin and WGWP on Twitter and Instagram. You can get tickets now to Watch Girls Watch Porn's first ever live taping, taking place March 12th with special guest Lindsey Banks, AKA Banksie
